Color Guard

The Color Guard is a very important part of the Mount Gilead High School Marching Band. Color Guard is available to any Mt. Gilead student grades 7 through 12. During the summer the students prepare for the coming school year, learning the fundamentals of dance techniques. In the fall, they perform with the Mt. Gilead Marching Band at Football Games and Competitions. These performances incorporate the use of Dance with the color and precision of Rifles, Sabres or Flags. They use their learned techniques to create an entertaining, artful, and award winning show. Along with the aspects of performance, the Color Guard members learn life skills such as discipline, dedication and leadership.  High School credit is given to all members of the color guard.

Color guard is much more than work and competition. It is closeness between young people that cannot be described. It is doing your best and knowing that you have your very own group of "fans" who you will always encourage and support you, whether you win or lose.
